It’s a Pleasure to Meet You…

Hello, I’m Mary Martha, a documentary photographer sharing the stories of people, communities, and organizations across the globe. My curiosity drives me to understand and connect with people in order to tell their stories.

During the course of my twenty-plus years with the U.S. Coast Guard, I was fortunate to travel throughout the US and around the world with my camera. These experiences inspired me to seek a new career path where
I can use my photography skills toward a different method of service. I’m passionate about supporting non-profit and humanitarian organizations through visual storytelling.

It’s important to me to be respectful and thoughtful with my work and the messages I share, which is why I completed the Photographers Without Borders’ Ethical Storytelling Certificate as one of the first steps in my journey as a photographer.

I completed my studies in the Professional Intensive program at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, Montana in May 2024 to hone my technical and artistic skills.

My work has been described as polychromatic. And while I love to embrace the colors of the cultures and locations I encounter, I’m equally drawn to the emotions and drama of black and white images.

I learned French for work and love listening to French music to help maintain my proficiency.

In the summer of 2024, I moved to Marseille, France to start my next adventure.
